Project description
The BOQua digital project was initiated to update the knowledge and skills of vocational orientation (VO) specialists and to develop new measures and tools for guiding young people in their career choices. While VO has traditionally focused on general topics related to professions, the increasing impact of digitization on the world of work - affecting professional profiles, requirements, and challenges - necessitates a shift in focus. Therefore, the project emphasizes the topic of digitization. VO specialists will not only update their understanding of how digitization is transforming selected vocational fields but also familiarize themselves with digital teaching methods, resources, and new tools. This will enable them to provide up-to-date advice and support to young people. Additionally, the newly developed, profession-specific VO measures and a training overview, which prioritize digitization, will help young people access the information they need to make informed and sustainable career choices.
Objectives
The project aims to achieve the following:
Specialists in vocational orientation (VO), such as teachers, social workers, and professionals in employment administration or chambers, should acquire the necessary know-how and skills to conduct vocational orientation with a focus on the changes in the work and professional world due to increasing digitization. The goal is to ensure that these specialists can gain up-to-date knowledge and have the ability to keep their knowledge current in the future.
Young people in the career decision-making process should be able to acquire field-specific information, comparable across the EU, on how digitization is affecting professions, including new requirements and challenges. They should receive optimal guidance and support from VO specialists on this topic. The aim is for young people to obtain the necessary information about professional profiles and the impact of digitization on them, enabling them to make future-oriented career decisions. This will help prevent training interruptions due to a lack of information about the role of digitization in professions and the requirements it imposes.
