Project description
The Project deals with the support of active citizenship and ethics in lifelong learning. Theatre will support the development of social, intercultural, digital competences and critical thinking. The participation in the theatre pathway will give elderly people the opportunity to become engaged in a non-formal activity, giving them the motivation and skills to become active and engaged in the community. Drama therapy for seniors, increases mental acuity, enhances the elderly’s relationships with those around them, bolsters self-esteem, and is just plain fun.
The priority is dealing with the ownership of shared values, equality, including gender equality and non discrimination and social inclusion through theatre art. Age on Stage aims to address and promote civic aptitudes and best practices according to the common aims of education across Europe, by giving voice to those who cannot speak and be recognized (like elderly in the community).
Age on Stage aims to include seniors and their “experience” in European societies to become self-conscious about their heritage and knowledge as active European citizens. The project supports social inclusion by bringing together elderly peopleacross adult education within Europe, empowering them to become active within their local communities. We also know that education brings important benefits for their social inclusion / personal fulfillment and helps people play a constructive and active role in their local communities and in society in general.
Objectives
Developing a theatre workshop pathway focused on life stories of senior participants that will introduce acting and presentation skills to help them shape their memories into stories ultimately in a public performance for peers and others in the community.
