Project description
The AGORA Europe II project is focused on supporting the urban retail trade sector in Europe, particularly addressing the challenges posed by the financial crisis and evolving market conditions. Retail shop owners and workers are struggling to compete with large commercial giants, facing difficulties such as business closures and lack of sufficient training opportunities. AGORA Europe II aims to modernize the sector by providing an integrated learning system that uses new technologies to develop necessary management competencies. This will help shop owners and workers survive the crisis, maintain their businesses, and improve their employability. Through an online system, the project will offer educational training, career guidance, and a platform for networking with others in similar situations across Europe.
It is AGORA Europe II project's vision to modernize and support the retail sector in facing the challenges posed by economic downturns and global competition, ensuring sustainability and resilience in urban trade.
Objectives
Equip retail sector shop owners and workers with advanced management skills to enhance their competitiveness and adaptability in the labour market.
Develop and implement e-learning platforms and training materials that address the specific needs of the retail trade sector.
Facilitate continuous learning by integrating informal competencies acquired on the job into structured training programs.
Establish an online portal that provides information about employment opportunities, educational resources, and career pathways for urban traders.
Create opportunities for shop owners and workers to engage in networking and peer-learning, promoting lifelong learning and active citizenship in the urban trade sector.
Address the youth unemployment issue by providing young workers (ages 15-30) with updated skills and competencies to improve their job prospects in the retail trade sector.
