Project description
The labour market in both the EU and Turkey faces a significant challenge: the skills and knowledge of graduates and employees in the chemical industry often do not meet current labour market needs. The chemical industry, consisting primarily of SMEs, is relatively young and finds itself in a difficult position when it comes to securing financial resources for employee training. Our project seeks to address this issue by fostering cooperation between VET (Vocational Education and Training) institutions and market companies. The aim is to enhance and align the skills of European citizens with the needs of the chemical industry, thus strengthening the link between VET and industry.
The Chemical Movetech project is designed to develop the skills and knowledge required by the labour market, particularly for staff working in SMEs within the chemical sector. This will be achieved through the creation of comprehensive, high-quality, and results-oriented e-learning modules. These modules, which will be accessible online from any location at any time, will be tailored to the specific needs of each participating country. By supporting the acquisition and application of knowledge, skills, and qualifications, the e-learning platform will facilitate personal development, employability, and visibility within the European labour market.
To ensure the relevance and effectiveness of the e-learning modules, transnational surveys were first conducted in Poland, Lithuania, and Turkey. These surveys identified the unique training needs and industry-specific demands of each country. Project partners reached out to target groups and stakeholders in these regions, establishing more than 150 contacts and receiving 92 responses.
The training materials developed - including videos, animations, quizzes, and surveys - are hosted on an e-learning platform that is freely accessible to all interested parties. The content has been customized to meet the specific requirements of each participating country and is divided into five key thematic categories: Raw Materials, Production Processes, Occupational Health and Safety, Packaging, and Waste Management. Furthermore, all platform content has been translated into five project languages: English, Spanish, Polish, Lithuanian, and Turkish.
Following the initial development of the e-learning platform, the project will move into a pilot testing and evaluation phase. During this phase, 20–30 participants, randomly selected by the project partners, will test the draft training modules. Based on the feedback and analysis from this pilot phase, the technical team and researchers will revise the modules accordingly. The pilot testing will take place in Spain, Poland, Lithuania, and Turkey.
The key expected outcomes of the project include:
The development of online training modules for chemical industry employees.
The integration of training materials into an e-learning management system.
The translation of these modules into five languages (English, Spanish, Polish, Lithuanian, and Turkish).
The testing and evaluation of the training solution across the partner countries.
