Project description
The ECOLAV project, “Environmental Competence Towards Labour Market and VET Systems,” addresses the growing environmental and climate crises by focusing on the integration of environmental competencies into vocational education and training (VET) systems. The project responds to the urgent need for new generations to be educated on the negative societal and environmental impacts resulting from unsustainable development models. ECOLAV aims to equip workers with essential skills needed in traditional and emerging economic sectors, fostering a more sustainable approach to resource management and environmental respect.
In alignment with European environmental targets, the project promotes sustainable development through mobility and cooperation among partner organizations and local stakeholders. ECOLAV will produce reports on European labor market demands for environmental skills and will develop training frameworks to incorporate these competencies into VET systems. The project also aims to establish an ECVET (European Credit system for Vocational Education and Training) framework specific to environmental competencies, enhancing cross-border collaboration and professional mobility.
By addressing the environmental competencies needed in modern economies, ECOLAV will help bridge the gap between labor market demands and vocational education, while contributing to broader European sustainability goals.
Objectives
Identify labor market needs related to environmental competencies and the corresponding demands within VET sectors across Europe.
Develop common training content that addresses specific environmental competencies, which will support the setup of an ECVET framework tailored to environmental issues.
Enhance participants' expertise in integrating environmental competencies into VET programs and the ECVET framework.
Promote cooperation and mobility, providing tools and opportunities for transnational collaboration between partner organizations and stakeholders.
Generate reports and guidelines on the integration of environmental competencies into VET systems and the ECVET process, with recommendations for future initiatives.
Target group
VET trainers and educators who seek to enhance their understanding and delivery of environmental competencies in training programs.
VET learners, including both young students and adults, interested in acquiring environmental skills relevant to the labor market.
Environmental sector professionals aiming to adapt their skills in line with sustainable practices and competencies.
Vocational education institutions seeking to incorporate environmental training into their curricula.
Employers and stakeholders in environmental and related sectors requiring a workforce trained in sustainable resource use, waste management, and green technologies.
Policymakers and local authorities interested in developing frameworks that promote environmental awareness and sustainability in vocational training.
