Project description
With schools and universities closed across most of the EU countries to contain the spread of coronavirus, an unprecedented number of students were out of class for a longer period. This disruption set off a move towards digital teaching. Against this background, it became clear that most schools were not prepared for 100% for the implementation of digital learning. Several key challenges and obstacles were identified. Hence, many teachers continued to use analogue forms of distance learning and reported only limited self-efficacy in implementing digital learning. Teachers who rated themselves as competent in traditional teaching did not automatically feel this way in digital learning. However, self-efficacy and attitudes are significant predictors of subsequent behaviors. Digital learning (from a distance) can only be implemented if the stakeholders involved feel prepared and supported to do so. The lack of preparation for the use of digital learning was evident in almost all European countries. Numerous teachers were not adequately qualified. In this sense, a need for further qualification of teachers in digital learning in different stages of education was identified, which was addressed in this project.
Objectives
Address the lack of knowledge and self-efficacy among teachers regarding digital learning.
Develop an innovative training path, including guidelines and an online course, to enhance teachers' qualifications in digital learning.
Promote teachers' knowledge, self-efficacy, and attitudes towards digital learning and teaching.
Support the implementation of digital learning across Europe.
Focus on inclusive education processes within the training materials.
Target group
teachers
educational institutions
students
educational policymakers and stakeholders
