Project description
In October 2012, the European Community adopted a text entitled ‘A stronger European industry for economic recovery and growth’, which put forward policies for laying the foundations of the industry of the future. This text placed particular emphasis on human capital and skills for industrial transformation. Investment in measures to support employee skills development is one of the keys to the success of industrial policy.
In existing qualifications, there is little reference to this transformation and to the new skills required. Moreover, in some member states, there is a shortage of skilled labour in this sector. However, if the sector is to develop, it needs qualified personnel who can guarantee that all the developments linked to the new technologies are integrated into industrial production.
The FACTORY Project aims to identify skill gaps and develop competencies for professionals in the industrial sector, including both current workforce members and future professionals (VET learners). The goal is to help them address the challenges posed by digitization and enhance their employability and adaptability.
As part of the project, a new curriculum based on learning outcomes will be developed, accompanied by an e-assessment tool, a mobile app, and an immersive reality tool. This Erasmus+ project addresses the competency needs of a modern manufacturing environment affected by digital advancements.
Objectives
help businesses and more particularly SMEs to assess their level of competences related to 4R and thus anticipate the needs for training of their staff towards a 4.0 industry
develop a flexible learning path focusing on the cross-disciplinary skills needed by employees to adapt to a new industrial environment, taking into account digital developments and labour market requirements
design a qualification pathway that is recognised and standardised at EU level, in line with the ECVET model, with the aim of facilitating the free movement of professionals
promote the employability and adaptability of workers in the sector in order to support companies' technological change and enable them to anticipate skills needs in order to remain competitive
Target group
IVET and CVET learners attending trainings in the fields related to manufacturing industry
VET providers
current workforce members in the industrial sector
small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
policy makers and industrial stakeholders
Results
A survey report on the existing delivery of training related to digitisation of manufacturing processes in chosen
European countries.
A learning units curriculum focusing on transversal competences and aiming at training individuals to adapt and meet the requirements of a new industrial environment.
An e-assessment tool with the aim to elaborate a tailor-made training pathway for each individual regarding his/her knowledge
related to industry 4.0.
